How much is it to fix my Marshall amp?
I haven't been able to have any time or money to fix my Marshall Valvestate VS100 during school, I know that Sam Ash can probably take it to a place to fix it but for how much specifically? The Amp turns on but when i try to play something no sound comes out even when every single dial is turned to 10, my guitar and cord are okay, i bought a little 10 watt amp and it works fine on that.
Does anyone know how much money it'll take to cost?
This is a hybrid amp with a tube preamp and solid state output. Thus, lots of things could be wrong, and since it's SS and uses circuit boards, it's hard to diagnose by description and thus quote a rough figure. Assuming you've checked all fuses, looking for one protecting the audio output transistors (might be inside?), see if the preamp tube(s) aren't failed. Without the preamp section, you can't have any audio output.
Lots of things could be bad:
Faulty transformer
Dead output transistors
Opened circuit board trace(s)
Dead IC(s) or resistors
more things I know nothing of
I wish I could help more, but I only own hi fi equipment, and honestly know more about tube electronics if only because they're SO much simpler.
